This year for Lent we incorporated our "Lent Wreath" (handmade by another homeschool family) with our daily readings during the forty days of the season. You simply move the candle and cross one hole closer to the center each day. It was a wonderfully simple way to prepare for Easter.
Then on Good Friday we carried a big wooden cross through Tynehead Park along with several other families. What a profound and sad experience it was to touch and carry the cross while thinking about the Easter story.
We were all thrilled to then celebrate the "happy ending" on Sunday by putting up the same cross in our living room and covering it with flowers.

He is risen, He is risen indeed!
